There is a lilac thicket on one of my walks. It is a useful walk, a getting-things-done walk, with a postal box, a grocery store and a pharmacy along the way. The lilacs are two lefts and a right away from my house. In that time there is a LOUD freeway to cross, conversation stops and the dogs lay back their ears. The lilacs lean in and welcome just now with sweet blossoms and cover from the rain or the sun. It is a special place. I’m thinking of writing a card to the folks them tend them to thank them for sharing their peace with us walkers.
